| Hillbilly Hotdogs auction raises funds for autism
LESAGE -- The annual Autism Awareness walk, run and bicycle event at Ritter Park isn't for a couple of weeks, but who wants to think about all that exertion without a few Snuffy dogs and a Stacy's Flu-Shot under the belt?
On Sunday afternoon, the sixth annual Autism Awareness Event, which kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Ritter Park, got its usual pre-walk boost by the always-fun auction at the original Hillbilly Hotdogs on W.Va. 2 in Lesage. Under gun-metal gray skies spitting rain, folks gathered for the auction by auctioneer Larry Adkins, and for refreshments by Hillbilly Hotdogs and Cakes by June, both of which donated all of their profits. .

The auction is hosted by the Chali-Rosso Art Gallery and Auctions in Motion. A percentage of each piece of art sold will be designated to the charity of choice by the purchaser. The auction will offer original graphic works from world-renowned European masters and a variety of works from BC artists.
The show organizers have launched similar events in Europe in previous years. In 2006, the Vancouver auction sold over 60% of works. Show hosts anticipate 75% of the art will be sold this year.
The Chali-Rosso Gallery is located on South Granville. The gallery specializes in European original lithographs and etchings by such masters as Rembrandt, Picasso, Miro, Dali, Chagall and Matisse. They are the only gallery in Canada offering these artists as a group. Owner, Susanna comments, "We are offering a unique opportunity to donors and charities.
Royal bust bought by Sikh
CHANDIGARH: After the SGPC's rhetoric that it would get another of the lost Sikh treasures back to India, Maharaja Duleep Singh's bust has been sold to the highest bidder — a Sikh family — to grace its private collection.
Duleep Singh, who converted to Christianity at an early age and was the son of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh, died a penniless man in Paris in 1893. But his role in history is such that even 114 years after his death, thousands of Sikhs go on a pilgrimage to his grave at Elveden Church.
For the Sikh community, the only consolation today is perhaps the fact that the white marble bust — commissioned by Queen Victoria and made by renowned Royal Academician John Gibson in Rome between 1859 and 1860 — went to a Sikh private investor, who bid £1.7 million.
Signed Rangers Top Auction for Greyhound Rescue Charity
Greyhound Rescue Scotland was formed in 2001 and since that date the charity has been run by unpaid volunteers. They are therefore reliant on public donations to allow them to continue helping wonderful animals who deserve a better life.
As part of their fundraising they are auctioning a Rangers top from 2002/03 signed by the Rangers team that season. There is a link to the Ebay auction here.
