| eBid Doubles Successful Closings, Adds Videos to Online Auctions
Online auction website eBid said it has doubled the number of auctions that are closing successfully compared to November 2006. The auction marketplace has also unveiled a new design, stating it has "cleaned up the layout, simplified the navigation, improved search, and made it easier to find items you are looking to sell and want to buy." eBid also added functionality for sellers to add videos to auctions when listing items. To add video to their auction listings, sellers upload video files to YouTube and add the unique 11 digit code that each new video is given into the box on the eBid listing page. The online auction site said it has also made other, numerous improvements to the site. eBid is based in the UK. It launched in the US in 2005 and is available in Canada, Australia and Ireland.
Legislature needs to rescind last year's power bidding law
It was quite the understatement from Rep. Gerald Hocker that the convoluted law requiring Delmarva Power to solicit bids for new energy sources "has gotten off track." It's not just off the track, it's down the mountain, across the highway and in the river. This process is a fiasco of major proportion. .

Thai draft constitution ends Senate bids
BANGKOK -- Thailand unveiled a draft constitution yesterday that eliminates direct elections for the country's Senate, bolsters the power of the judiciary and absolves the leaders of the September military coup of any wrongdoing. Adoption of a new constitution, which would be Thailand's 18th since the abolition of absolute monarchy 75 years ago, is crucial to resolving the yearlong political crisis and a prerequisite for a return to democracy. But the document, which was drafted by a 35-member committee selected by the junta, quickly came under criticism yesterday as not being democratic enough. "It's a constitution designed to decrease democracy and the role of the electorate," said Ji Giles Ungpakorn, an associate professor of political science at Chulalongkorn University.
