| Truthfully, all five Cup bids solid
In less than three weeks, the Ontario Hockey League will announce where the 2008 Memorial Cup will be played. So now the real handicapping begins. Five franchises bid -- the London Knights, Kitchener Rangers, Saginaw Spirit, Sarnia Sting and Oshawa Generals. All five teams will say the same thing: "We put our best foot forward. It was a strong bid. It was well received. We believe our city should hold the Memorial Cup because it will the best thing for the league." And they are probably right. The one constant in all this is that the OHL bid selection committee can pick any of the five sites and be assured the tournament will be a not only a financial success, but a entertaining one as well. Not all the bids are the same but whatever the significant differences, they wouldn't affect the overall outcome of the event.
Auction of Oprah's dress benefits BGSU
At the 40th Anniversary of the William T. Jerome Library, Oprah Winfrey's dress did just that, being auctioned off to highest bidder for $7,500.
All of the money raised by the dress will go to the library.
"People know the University needs money for scholarships and athletics, but we [the library] also rely on the generosity of the community," said Kelly Broughton, co-interim dean of University Libraries, after the dress was auctioned off.
About 200 people came to celebrate the library's anniversary and bid on items to help raise money for the library's future.
"I think we sold every single one of our auction items," Broughton said.
The importance of the library to the University and its students was the predominant theme of the night.

After receiving a call from the owner of Thorsby Auction Market, another avenue for cattle for the non-profit 3M Meats Inc. has surfaced.
