| Rosneft Wins Fifth Auction for Yukos Assets
A subsidiary of Russias state-run oil producer Rosneft has won the fifth auction for smaller assets of the now bankrupt oil company Yukos, the countrys federal property fund said on Wednesday, April 18. Yukos, once Russias largest private oil company, was declared bankrupt Aug. 1, 2006, after three years of litigation with tax authorities over the companys tax arrears. Rosnefts subsidiary Neft-Aktiv was declared the auction winner after it offered 1.03 billion rubles (about $40 million) for the lot whose initial price was 992.31 million rubles (about $38.5 million). The other bidders included the companies Akkord and MorTransInvest, the fund said. The first auction was held on March 27 to sell Yukos 9.44 percent stake in Rosneft. It was won by Rosnefts subsidiary RN-Razvitiye, which offered 197.84 billion rubles for the lot (about $7.6 billion), compared with the lots initial price of slightly over 195.5 billion rubles (about $7.5 billion).
Parking lot paving bids taken
Parking your vehicle at the north end of Voigt Park will soon be a smoother experience, based on a plan to complete the paving on the east end of the lot there. At its April meeting, the Board of Works opened quotes for a paving project at the park on the city's southwest side. Plans call for the rolling and compacting of 42,320 square feet of the north lot, as well as the application of binder coat of paving this year, followed next year by a top finish coat of asphalt. Quotes received as of the deadline on Monday came from Milestone Paving at $43,180, Central Paving with a quote for $32,200, and American Paving & Asphalt for $32,500. "Actually, it's a little better than what I expected," said Monticello Parks Superintendent Mitch Billue of the quotes received. Although the board took the quotes under advisement for review by Billue and street superintendent Doug Roberts, Billue said it's likely one that will be approved at a special Board of Public Works meeting at 5:45 p.m.

KOREA: Bidding to build giant IT media tower to open soon
Seoul City will open bidding early next month to build a skyscraper in an information technology and media industry center under construction in western Seoul. The bidding for the high-rise building fell through in late 2004 as all bidders failed to pass the evaluation. The building, named Land Mark, will be the centerpiece for the Digital Media City complex in Sangam-dong to be established by 2010. Seoul City will resume the bidding process in May, officials said. The city government will collect project plans from the bidders between July and August and will select a preferred negotiator by the end of the year, city officials said. Seoul City officials are looking into lowering the height of the building from the previously proposed 540 meters (about 130 stories) and increasing the number of residential spaces.
